After the Fire
After the Fire
Inspired by raindrops during the first rain after the Eagle Creek Fire in the Columbia River Gorge, a fire which devastated a large area of the scenic area and threatened homes in our area. The original painting is created using hand gathered charcoal from a wildfire location and acrylic paint on wood panel. The painted text is the word Baraka, an Arabic word which means that which is imbued with sacredness. After several weeks of smoke choked air and danger so close by, I’ve never felt so grateful for water as I did when those first drops fell.
